- Coca-Cola – The most popular carbonated soft drink in the world, which was introduced in 1886 by John Pemberton. After more than a century on the market, countless variations that are sold by competing companies, Coca-Cola is today regarded as world’s most popular and valuable brand.
- Coca-Cola Zero – Popular low-calorie version of traditional Coca-Cola. If features 0.50 kilocalories per 150ml and is usually marketed to men who prefer its taste that is unchanged from ordinary Coca-Cola.
- Diet Coke – Sugar-fee variation that has different formula than Coca-Cola, which gives it different flavor. It was introduced in 1982 as the first extension of the traditional Coca-Cola.
- Pepsi – The most popular drink of PepsiCo, created and distributed first time in 1893 under the original name of “Brad’s Drink”. Since then it changed name several time, eventually reverting back to its most popular name Pepsi-Cola.
- Pepsi Max – Recently made variation of Pepsi (1993) whose formula has very low calories and zero sugar. During its history it was sold in many flavor variations, including lemon, coffee, mint, apple, cherry and others.
- Sprite – Popular colorless carbonated soft drink that was first introduced by Coca-Cola Company in 1961. It has a flavor of lemon-lime and features no caffeine.

- Fanta – The most popular orange-flavored carbonated soft drink in the world. It was introduced to the world by The Coca-Cola Company, even though the original version was developed in 1941Germany.
- 7-UP – This popular lemon-lime flavored soft drink that features no caffeine was first introduced in 1923, but it received its modern name in 1936. Today it is manufactured by Dr Pepper Snapple Group in US and PepsiCo in the rest of the world.
- Mountain Dew – Very popular soft drink from PepsiCo. Today this brand of drink and its many variations are most popular in United States.
- Diet Mountain Dew – Low-calorie drink that was initially known under a name “Sugar-Free Mountain Dew”.
- Dr Pepper – One of the oldest soft drinks in the world, introduced one year before John Pemberton managed to create original recipe for Coca-Cola. Today this carbonated drink is still known for its unique flavor and caramel color.
- Schweppes – The most popular soft drink from Switzerland, originally created by Johann Jacob Schweppe in 1793. His company merged in 1969 with Cadbury, and later on part of Dr Pepper Snapple Group in 2008.
Always Coca-Cola: Coca-Cola tops soft drinks brand rankings
Coca-Cola remains the world’s most valuable soft drink brand, although Red Bull and Dr Pepper are the fastest growers, according to rankings from Brand Finance.The brand retains the title of world’s most valuable and strongest soft drink brand, with a brand value of $33.2bn – almost double that of second place Pepsi at $18.4bn. However, it has recorded a 13% decline in brand value this year.
And while Coca-Cola has declined in brand value, Dr Pepper has posted strong brand growth of 40%.
Coca-Cola, Pepsi, Red Bull
The annual rankings plot the world’s biggest soft drinks against each other, measuring brand value through the strength of brands as well as metrics on marketing investment, stakeholder equity and business performance.
“With a 129-year long history, Coca-Cola is still the most consumed soda in the world, with 1.9 billion servings, across 200 countries, enjoyed each day,” notes Brand Finance. “As with other brands globally, however, the brand’s parent company has not been immune to the impact of COVID-19, with the multinational forced to restructure and cut over 2,000 jobs.
“Coca-Cola continues to strive towards its CSR responsibilities, recently announcing its partnership with The Ocean Cleanup’s River Project, where it will utilise its global network to tackle the amount of plastic entering the oceans. This is just the latest prong in the company’s wider vision for a “World Without Waste”.
Pepsi, meanwhile, comes in at second place.
In terms of overall portfolios, however, PepsiCo comes out on top over The Coca-Cola Company. The top place is taken by Nestlé – whose products include Nespresso and Nescafé among many others – with a portfolio value of $65.6bn. PepsiCo comes in second with a portfolio value of $59.2bn, followed by The Coca-Cola Company at $48.6bn.
These giants are followed by Unilever, Mars, Danone, Mondelez, KraftHeinz, Groupe Lactalis and General Mills.
Fast-growers
Dr Pepper and Red Bull are the fastest and second-fastest growing soft drink brands this year, recording a 40% and 15% brand value increase, respectively.
Dr Pepper – previously #11 on the rankings – is now in 8th place.
